How to Record Your Podcast to a microSD Card

You can record directly on the RØDECaster Pro without using a computer during the session.

The microSD card recording described here is made from the RØDECaster Pro installed in our podcast studios, which you can book by the hour.

In short

  1. Insert your microSD card into the RØDECaster Pro.
  2. Format the card if the RØDECaster asks you to.
  3. Enable multitrack for microSD if you want separate sources.
  4. Press the record button to start.
  5. Press the record button again to stop.

1. Insert your microSD card

Insert the microSD card into the slot on the back of the RØDECaster Pro.

When the card is recognised correctly, the microSD status appears on screen and the record button is ready to use.

2. Format the card if needed

If you are using the card with this RØDECaster for the first time, the unit may ask you to format it.

Important: formatting deletes the existing data on the microSD card. Back up any files you want to keep before formatting.

3. Want multitrack recording?

On the RØDECaster Pro, open:

Settings → Advanced → Audio → Multitrack

Enable microSD if you want to recover the different audio sources separately.

4. Start and stop the recording

Press REC to start recording. The record button turns red.

Press REC again when you are finished. The button turns green again.

5. Check your file

After recording, check that the file is present on the card before removing or formatting the microSD card.
