Rehearsal Equipment Troubleshooting

No sound from an amplifier, a piano not responding correctly or an issue with a monitor? Try the checks below first.

The checks described here apply to the amps and mixing desk installed in our rehearsal studios, which you can book by the hour.

Guitar amplifier problem

  1. Check that the amplifier is powered on.
  2. Set gain, volume, EQ and master controls to neutral middle positions.
  3. Disconnect your pedalboard and connect your guitar directly to the amplifier.
  4. Set the amp type to a simple Clean setting.
  5. If you use pedals, check that all pedals are connected and powered correctly.
  6. If needed, test your guitar and cable on another amplifier.

Bass amplifier problem

If the bass amplifier has power but you hear no sound:

  • set the main controls to middle positions;
  • turn off any overdrive;
  • connect the bass directly to the amplifier to rule out the pedalboard;
  • if you use pedals, check their power and cabling.

Reset a Boss Katana 100 MKII

  1. Turn the unit off and set POWER CONTROL to STANDBY.
  2. Hold PANEL while turning on the Katana.
  3. The Booster, Mod, Delay and Reverb LEDs start flashing.
  4. Release PANEL.
  5. When the PANEL button starts flashing, the factory reset is being performed.

Do not turn off the amplifier while the reset is in progress.

Reset a Yamaha P-145

Hold the C7 key — the highest key — while turning on the instrument to restore the default settings.
