How to Use Talkback to the Vocal Booth
Talkback lets you communicate from the control room with someone in the vocal booth through the headphones.
Use a separate microphone track in your DAW and route it to the correct Focusrite headphone output.
In short
- Open Focusrite Control.
- Select Headphone 2.
- Set the custom mix to DAW outputs 3/4.
- Create a separate talkback track in your DAW using the control-room microphone as input.
- Route that track to outputs 3/4.
1. Configure Headphone 2 in Focusrite Control
Open Focusrite Control and select Headphone 2 on the left.
Set the custom mix to DAW outputs 3/4.
2. Create a talkback track in your DAW
Create a separate audio track for the microphone in the control room.
In the documented setup, this microphone uses input 2.
3. Route the talkback track to outputs 3/4
Set the output of the talkback track to outputs 3/4.
The person in the vocal booth can then hear your voice through the configured headphone mix.
Test before recording
Test the talkback at a low volume before starting the real recording to avoid sending an excessively loud signal to the headphones.
