How to Add Computer Audio to Your Podcast
You can send audio played on your computer to the RØDECaster Pro, such as music, video or other audio content, and include it in your podcast.
The connections described here apply to the RØDECaster Pro installed in our podcast studios, which you can book by the hour.
In short
- Connect your computer to the RØDECaster Pro by USB.
- Disable USB Mix-minus on the RØDECaster.
- Select RØDECaster Pro Stereo as your computer's audio output.
- Raise the USB channel fader on the RØDECaster.
- Check the sound in your headphones before recording.
1. Connect your computer to the RØDECaster Pro
Connect your computer to the RØDECaster Pro by USB.
2. Disable USB Mix-minus
On the RØDECaster Pro, open:
Settings → Advanced → Audio → Processing
Then disable USB Mix-minus.
3. Configure your computer's audio output
Open your computer's audio settings.
Select RØDECaster Pro Stereo as the default audio output.
Audio played on your computer can now be sent to the RØDECaster Pro.
4. Raise the USB channel on the RØDECaster
On the RØDECaster Pro, raise the level of the USB channel.
This is the fader to the right of channel 4.
Play audio on your computer and check in your headphones that you can hear it correctly.
5. Record your podcast
If you record to microSD
Press the RØDECaster Pro record button to start recording your session.
If you record to your computer
In your DAW, select the RØDECaster as the recording source and start recording.
